What we do

When we get call from bystander, hospitals or Govt welfare departments and sometimes from the relatives of homeless aged and sick individuals, Mr. Lakshmi Narayanan will rush to the spot on his Mobile Van and rescue the patient and brought to their Old age home, Thai Ullam Trust.  Immediately after completing the First AID, patients will be embarked on a transformative journey that leads to a remarkable improvement in their standard of living. With Personal care and compassion of the devoted couple Mr. Lakshmi Narayanan and Mrs. Vigneswari, the patients are slowly releasing the heaviness in their hearts and experiencing a Sigh of relief. Because, for them, gone are the days of uncertainty, struggling to survive on the streets. Instead, they find themselves in a haven of care and support, where their basic needs are met and their lives are enriched.

Our dedicated team ensures that nutritious meals are prepared according to health conditions and served regularly, addressing their malnourishment and hunger. The access to proper nutrition helps them regain their strength and vitality, giving them the physical stamina, they need to navigate their daily lives with greater ease. We will monitor significant improvements in their physical well-being.

In addition to nutrition, our residents receive comprehensive medical care. Regular check-ups are being conducted twice in a month by Licensed doctors and personalized treatments are implemented on daily basis to address their unique health needs. By having access to healthcare professionals, our inmates receive the necessary treatments, medications, and therapies to manage any existing conditions or ailments. As a result, their overall health improves, and they experience a reduction in pain, discomfort, and other health-related challenges that they once faced alone on the streets.

Beyond the physical improvements, we focus on the emotional and psychological transformations of inmates which are equally profound. No longer burdened by the isolation and loneliness that often accompany homelessness, our residents find solace in our affectionate approach and Personal care. They are surrounded by compassionate staff and fellow residents who understand and empathize with their experiences.

Through the bondage we forged within our old age home Thai Ullam Trust, new relations are formed. These connections become a vital source of emotional support, understanding, and companionship. Our residents no longer feel alone in their struggles. Instead, they have a support system that uplifts and encourages them during their journey towards a better and contended life.

Emotional enrichment activities play a significant role in improving their overall well-being. Our residents have access to a wide range of engaging and stimulating programs and workshops. Art therapy, music therapy, and recreational activities fill their days with joy, togetherness, and purpose. These activities not only provide pastime, but also stimulate their minds and foster a sense of accomplishment, boosting their self-esteem and confidence.

While serving, we prioritize the independence and dignity of our residents. We believe that everyone has the right to make choices and control the trajectory of their own lives. Our staff members respect the autonomy of our residents and encourage their active participation in rehabilitation processes. By honoring their preferences and empowering them to voice their opinions, we restore their self-esteem.

Further, when they had their last breath, with full respect, we are paying their last rites and completing all funeral process and cremation.

As a result of these holistic efforts, the standard of living for our homeless aged residents improves exponentially. They experience the restoration of their dignity, find hope in their hearts, and rediscover their purpose in life. Our old age home Thai Ullam Trust becomes not just a shelter, but a true home filled with care, compassion, and Trust.

It is our unwavering mission and commitment to continue providing a supportive and nurturing environment for homeless aged and sick individuals. We believe that everyone deserves a chance to live their later years with dignity and respect. Through our efforts, we aim to empower our residents to rebuild their lives, embrace their individuality, and enjoy their remaining days in a caring, loving and peaceful atmosphere.
